New Single! 'Bricks and Brawn'
“['The Coffee Break EP' is] coziness and melancholy, but in a good way …” (2020)
‘The Coffee Break EP’ is the first time Warm WiFi had to come to terms with a sobering fact. Not every release can be an album. Every musical artist knows that the creative drive to make art is often fleeting, which can make it difficult to ‘schedule’ a project, and you often have to sit with/revisit songs before you feel like they are competent.
Ultimately, this meant Warm WiFi felt like he was always stuck with flash drives filling up with song ideas that just weren’t exactly finished. But this EP feels concise and marks the beginning of more professionalism and polish in Warm WiFi productions. From this point forward, Warm WiFi sought to only collaborate with the best and the brightest. And even though it takes longer, he would invest more patience and time in future projects being “perfect”.
‘Finite Feelings’ includes 10 tracks that span about 3 years of Warm WiFi’s life, covering topics like college, being frustrated with dating, homesickness, and rocky family dynamics.
The album name is exactly what it implies. Because this and so many albums take so much time to produce, all the songs can feel like a time capsule when they're finally completed. Each song is a snapshot of a specific feeling and the songwriter's mindset. A song can take you back to the sorrow you felt, sitting in the car on the phone, receiving the worst news of your life. Or you can experience again the indescribable joy you felt summiting a mountain. Or the instant you captured a feeling beyond words with the perfect chords.
‘Finite Feelings’ also marks a transition for Warm WiFi, away from purely instrumental, loop-based electronic music to more carefully prepared indie rock. It also marks the start of Warm WiFi’s collaborations with vocalists, drummers, and guitarists, to fill in the gaps in his musical abilities and invest in the musical talents of his friends.
“'Finite Feelings' is Warm WiFi's first cohesive assembly of music…” (2020)
‘Soaring Highs and Crushing Lows’ is a nice little 7-track installment that emphasizes Warm WiFi’s downtempo inspirations. These tracks are all downtempo, deep house, lo-fi, chill hop, taking from artists like Bonobo, Emancipator, and Lemon Jelly. These genres are built from the principles of music theory, and the fun that comes from exploring with looping music software in your bedroom. These tracks are very much what you might listen to for hours during long nights studying in college.
